2007 Audit of Direct Appointments

The audit of all direct appointments made in 2007 has concluded. A direct appointment is permitted under section 10 of the Public Service Act when three criteria are met: the appointment must be based on the principle of merit; there must be unusual or exceptional circumstances; and the appointment must be approved by the Head of the BC Public Service Agency.

Detailed audit reports were provided to organization heads early 2008, as well as to the Head of the BC Public Service Agency. A summary report of overall findings, which includes a recommendation made by the Merit Commissioner, has been published in our 2007/08 Annual Report.
